The Air-conditioning system with Thermal Energy Storage, Designed for the Building is having overall lowest power consumption, not exceeding 0.75 IKW / TR (including Chiller, Chilled Water Primary &
Secondary Pumps, Condenser Water Pumps, Cooling Tower Fans & AHUs)
The factory cum office building (a leading diamond processing unit) is having basement, ground and six floors with a total construction area of over 1,60,000 sq.ft.
The six storey building has the Reception, the Administration, the Dining Hall, The kitchen and the Health club on the ground floor. To add aesthetics and to ensure proper Men / Material flow beautiful Atrium of nearly 4000 sq.ft. has been provided, from first floor to the fifth floor, it is totally used as a factory building housing various departments of Diamond processing like Planning, windowing , Sawing, Barrel preparation, Bruting, Polishing, Grading etc.
Total 2800 persons are working in the premises at a time. The sixth floor i.e corporate floor, having area of around 6000 sq.ft., houses the director’s office as well as conference rooms.
The Utility services like A/C plant, Fire Fighting Equipments, Electrical Room etc. are tucked under the building in the basement.
The present total air conditioning load is approximately 700 TR. However the load pattern is scattered in such a way that to meet the air conditioning requirement of the building a high efficiency Centrifugal Chiller of 375 TR is installed along with natural stratification type chilled water Thermal Energy Storage tank system having storage capacity of more than 1000 TRH. The system also has primary and secondary pumping station operating on VFD controlled by BMS. All AHUs are designed with direct coupled plug fans driven by VFDs.
The tank has a capacity to store appx. 10 Lakhs litres of chilled water & it consists of five numbers of different tanks in tandem (such that the outlet of one tank is connected to the inlet of the next one).
The five compartment of tank has been connected by specially designed Diffusers to transfer chilled water in to and out of the TES tank.
The system works on simple principles blended with high efficiency Chiller and BMS.
