Condensate Management System of 1 TR Window Air Conditioner

• Window air conditioner is a most commonly used package type self contained small capacity (< 4 kW) air conditioning system used for room cooling. Room air is conditioned by cooling and dehumidification when the air flows over the cooling coil.

• A significant amount of condensate gets accumulated below the cooling coil which causes spoilage of the floor, wall and rusting of the conditioner as well. Experiments are carried out on a 1 TR Window air conditioner to utilize the condensate for condenser cooling. A simple and effective solution is proposed. Enhanced cooling of the condenser utilizing condensate decreases the condenser pressure significantly which eventually increase the COP by more than 10%.
